Quick Blogcast is moving to a new home.
We're improving the infrastructure that Quick Blogcast runs on in the near future. While there will be minimal disruption--practically none for most users--some of you will have to modify your existing blog set up within the coming weeks.
If your blog is using a domain purchased from GoDaddy.comĀ® , then you are excused from the next few paragraphs. We've got you covered and apart from a momentary glitch, where a black cat may appear to leave the same comment twice, there should be no noticeable outage.
If you bought your domain from anywhere other than Godaddy.com then we ask that you log into that account and point your blog's domain over to our new servers. In the near future to maintain continuous service for your readers you will need to amend your domain's "A record" to point towards 208.109.80.14 rather than 64.202.189.158 where it's currently being directed. This is the same process that you would have used when you initially set up the blog.
During the next few weeks we'll be running both server groups so the changeover, after you've pointed the blog to the new location, should be seamless with no loss of posts or comments. When we are close to deprecating, a wonderful $10 word for turning off, the old servers ,we'll mail the remaining users asking them to make the switch quickly or ultimately risk that their blog will be unreachable to the outside world.

I must be tired b/c i don't understand this statement, "...a wonderful $10 word for turning off, the old servers we'll mail the remaining users...." please explain differently. thanks.
Greetings,
It appears I missed a comma which did indeed mangle the sentence. The intent was this. If you have a blog with Godaddy but manage your domain name elsewhere then you need to update that domain name to point to the new location of our visitor sites. If you are with us we make the change on your behalf .

Help I cannot read your blog without highlighting the area I want to see! I just thought it was time to update my QuikBlog wish list - I really want to use twitter feed but have to be able to use Open ID - any chance that is up for consideration and still really wanting static pages for about me, real estate listings and other info that I don't want to sidebar or have plopped in the middle of my post. Please ;)
Greetings Michelle,
I'll take a look at the contrast issues with the text and see if I can improve the legibility. Done.
There's no need for open id to use the twitter sidebar item in the blog. I may be behind but I wasn't aware that Twitter themselves had an openid system that wasn't a mashup of other services and I'd really need further info on the expected workflow/ benefits of doing that. I really like the idea of Openid, have one myself, and have been thinking about ways to implement it within QuickBlog.
Wit regards to static pages , it's on the roadmap, I often suggest a work around where you create several entries that have no comments and no trackbacks and use a blogroll item to create a navigation to them obviously the lack of sidebar is an issue in that model. You may already have a hosting account with us, free or otherwise, and that may be a better short term place to place static content until we can include it within blogcast.

Is this also why the 'Referrers' portion of the 'IP Address Report' section of my blog is not working? The page will not load, and has been down for a couple of weeks now.
Catherine, the redheaded blogger
Greetings Catherine,
These are two unrelated issues as the change mentioned in this post would affect only the visitor's side of Quick Blogcast. The referrer item in the stats is a known issue that is currently being addressed though I don't have a timeline for such. None of the information is being lost during this time it's just not being displayed correctly. I apologize for this ongoing inconvenience with this particular stat's view.

Hey guys, few questions:
1) Sitemap: This is quite important and obviously Google indexing is very important to most people since traffic is vital to any blog. Is there a timeframe when we could expect this feature to be on the Quickblog module?
2) Robots.txt file by default is set to: User-agent: IRLbot
allow: /
Is there a way to change that?
Thanks
Greetings James,
Thanks for the comment relating to sitemaps and the robots file. We have that ability planned on our roadmap but we don't release specific dates for any of our products. Presently there's no ability for the owner to change the robots file. I've found that even without the sitemap Google's indexing of Quickblogcast's seems to be pretty thorough but we have had inquiries such as yours to include it within a future release.

When can we expect the following functionality: a "quick" way to import smaller versions of images that link to their larger native files (this is a pain to do manually; it's much easier in Blogger), multi-photo uploading (not using the photobucket service, which rarely works), increased storage and bandwidth options (similar web hosting plans offer 6x the bandwidth and 30x the storage), ability to modify additional iTunes channel level info (it appears we're stuck with it using the author of our first post and channel level keywords cannot be added at all), and the ability to store default html with all posts (like ads, polls, etc.)?
Greetings,
I'm afraid we don't have public timelines for features but I can tell you what's being considered or the likely way we'd handle your suggestions within a future release. Firstly I believe we can accommodate two of these requests fairly easily for users of our Online Photo Filer which has both a bulk uploader and can directly import to the blog. E.g We could place the thumbnail in the post / link through to main file. Most people have a free OPF account or you could bring in the same type of images from Flickr / Photobucket through the same interface. I'll take a look into getting this item included. The bare hosting plans do indeed offer more raw storage/ transfer but the user is often left to set up/ manage their own account on such and for most people it's a difference they are not willing to
For podcasts we do have the channel level info so a specific case of what tags are absent would be useful. iTunes needs one author per feed that's submitted to them ( I'll double check that but it was in the specs.) You are correct that we don't have channel keywords at present they looked minimally effective , as as the keywords on the item when compared to all the data in the show description / summary etc but I'll review that the same time. There are plans for an area to have inline advertising / banners/ scripts within QBC that would cover most of your last request. I'll update the blog with the info on these changes as they are enacted. Thanks for taking the time to give us your suggestions.

Well, hi, and happy new Quick Blogcast housewarming. I'm figuring you're moved in because I'm noticing fresh little things. Like I can't see published articles right away and one day I'll show 20 article views and the next day 200. Anyone else experiencing this? Are these things relocation blues or just coincidental? Thanx as always.
Greetings,
These are coincidental. There's some additional caching in place on the main page so there may be a slight selay in the post being available if you are on the site but there are three quick ways around this. Check the feed it should be coming out instantaneously. Do a search for a word in the title and the article should appear or click on this month's Archive. The article views are on a rolling system eg. the last 30 days.
There's further info on Statistics Changes
So Part 1 is working as designed but the stats are working , just not in an obvious manner and we plan to address the latter in an upcoming edition of Blogcast.
