Gnarly Editor, Dude!
We've replaced FreeTextBox, the rich text editor used to create entries, with Telerik's RadEditor with the Quick Blogcast 2.0.5 release. FreeTextBox did an admirable job for the almost two years, but what deficiencies it had were maddening and development on it has basically stalled. We think you'll like some of the new features that RadEditor offers us:
- Safari support
- Ability to paste a Microsoft Word document and have it stripped of formatting
- Contextual menus (right-clicking) show relevant actions
- Improved table creation and editing
- Plethora of expandability and customization options for the future
Yes, I would say there is a plethora of features that we didn't use in this initial release. Future releases will find us tweaking the mix of features and functionality to make things even easier and more powerful. Keep your eyes peeled!

I have a question about comments carrying links.
Is it possible to turn these links no follow.
For the last few months I have been struggling to get some inbound links through posting quality comments.
Despite most of my comments have got good feedbacks, all of my links went into the comment listings as no follow links.
Now that my site has had a good in increase in PR, i think i have the right to do the same thing, haven't I?
Greetings,
I'm afraid I need a bit more clarification on this. When you say all your links are you referring to those that people place within your blog comments , or the ones you are making in reply to them through the program? If you could point to a post / specific comment with the behavior I'll take a look at this.

Under "New Entry", when I right click on title or categories there is an option for "generate custom search", what is this? I also have a question about statistics. Could you possibly create a help menu that explains how to use them? The current help menu tells you that they are there, but doesn't explain what they mean. Is there any way to tell the difference between people and robots visiting my site? Do the robots click on articles, registering in my statistics? I stopped checking browser stats for a few weeks and suddenly I had 610 visits from feedreader. Are these RSS subscribers and is there any way to tell how many people subscribe to feed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Greetings,
The generate custom search is coming from your Google Toolbar and isn't a part of the Blogcast program. What it appears to be doing is creating an icon in the toolbar which clicking on then returns you to the new entry page. I'll take a look into any uses we can suggest for this unexpected feature but for the meantime it doesn't seem immediately applicable.
Onto Stats.
We do have two supporting articles in the help but as you have said it's more what they are rather than why I'll pass this comment onto our writing team to see if we can expand on those.
While it's not impossible to tell human from non human requests from search engines, your feed being used on another's website or even reused in widget form on a blog sidebar Currently we don't provide that level of detail but I would like to. We're taking a look at the stats to provide a better initial report so you can quickly see the last few hours/ day/ week as well as creating a system
Robot's requesting your site could be counted as a hit. Feedreader is a client app for windows for people to view rss through so one person with it set to request an update on an unusually high basis could be responsible for 600 hits in a few weeks though it could be many people using the same service at this time there's no easy way to tell within our current reports ( why I want them changed in the first place)

This isn't a comment/question about the new text editor . . . but I didn't know where to put it . . . so here it is.
I suspect, though I'm not certain, that it's not possible to customize the header with html to link the header back to the main page, instead of requiring users to find and click on the "BACK TO MAIN PAGE" button.
Is this the case and, if so, is there a fix for it in the works. This seems like a pretty basic feature that several of my readers have asked about (even though my blog's only been up for one day). Thanks!
Greetings
For most templates this is possible and can be achieved by going into design blog > customize and then populate the field "Header link" with the site you want it to take you to.

Thanks John! One more related question . . . now that I've entered my homepage URL in the "Header link" field, is there anyway to have the link not open in a new browser and, instead, have it work as if one were hitting the "Back to Main Page" button? Thanks, again.
Greetings,
That should already act like that, least it would make more sense for it to have a choice of behavior at that stage. I'll request we add that to a future version

That new 'save and continue' option on the edit entry page is HUGE. From someone who revises obsessively before publishing, my compliments to the chef.
Bonjour Ali,
I'm glad you like it. It's something that I was advocating for a long time and the bloggers here are quietly rejoicing.
Save long and prosper.
