Words about sound new from the Quick Blog team. Quick Podcast.

Greetings and "audio" salutations,

Quick Blog now has a louder sibling with the release of Quick Podcast our new podcast hosting application. What’s a podcast? I like to describe it as “Tivo® for your radio” Podcasting is a way of notifying subscribers to the feed that a new program is available for their attention.

Sounds like blogging for sound? Yes and no. While podcasts use the same syndication method, RSS2.0, as the majority of blogs there’s as many reasons for podcasting as there are for blogging. While podcasting takes a little, and I do mean a little, more skill than creating a blog entry the addition of a podcast to your blog ( where else where they going to discuss your show?) it adds a whole new element to how you communicate with your subscribers.

Examples of podcasts

  • Lectures/ notes for those that couldn’t attend or as supplemental material for students.
  • Keeping your family informed of events in your life.
  • Sales and business information for a mobile workforce.
  • Realtor doing audio tours of property for sale.
Or, and this is the best reason, you’re passionate about politics, music, art or a hobby that rarely receives coverage in the mainstream media and to be honest is there any better person for the task? You live your hobby, beliefs and work and have more to say than you realize, I've read your blogs after all, I look forward to hearing your podcasts.

If your message is compelling all you need is a microphone to start you most likely have one with your PC or your MP3 player may have a record feature that’s been itching to get used.

      Greetings,

You are correct that you can  use Quickblog in this manner  but  you would give up a lot by doing so. The resulting feed would by missing a lot of information and the plans are not set up in terms of diskspace and bandwidth to serve anything approaching a regular podcast.

We do draw attention to this feature on our landing page but it's not heavily advertised due to the limitations of using this method.
